This male Anna's Hummingbird sits in a tree about 7 feet away from Donna Johnstone's hummingbird feeder. If any other hummingbird tries to feed from his feeder, he chases them away!

Watch for male hummingbirds as they do their courtship dives. The male will fly as high as 130 feet (40 meters) into the air, plummet in a near-vertical dive towards the ground (and hopefully a watching female), and then let out a short high pitch squeak at the bottom.

This Townsend's Warbler was a regular visitor to Stephen and Sally's bird feeder every day up until the most recent cold snap.

Did you know? Townsend's Warblers not only spend the winters in Mexico and Central America, but also along the U.S. Pacific Coast as well! Here they will show up in backyards looking for energy-rich foods such as mealworms and suet.
